During India’s Super Four clash against Sri Lanka on Friday, fans were left stunned by Dasun Shanaka’s Super Over escape. After being initially given out caught behind off Arshdeep Singh, Shanaka ran for a single, but Sanju Samson’s direct hit couldn’t effect a run-out since the ball was already dead. India went on to win the Super Over, keeping their unbeaten streak alive.

On Friday, India extended their unbeaten run to six games with a thrilling Super Over victory over Sri Lanka in a dead-rubber Super Four clash. Pathum Nissanka’s blistering 107 off 58 balls almost handed Sri Lanka a stunning win, but India held their nerve, with Arshdeep Singh taking both wickets in the Super Over to seal the match. Abhishek Sharma once again starred with a 31-ball 61, while Tilak Varma’s unbeaten 49 and Sanju Samson’s 39 ensured India posted a challenging 202/5. Despite the close contest, India had already secured their place in the final. Pakistan, who defeated Bangladesh by 11 runs in a tense Super Four encounter thanks to Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf’s three wickets apiece, will now meet India in Sunday’s Asia Cup final. This will be the third meeting between the sides in the tournament, after India had won both the group stage and Super Four clashes, which were marked by controversy, including the absence of post-match handshakes.
