Nepal vs West Indies T20I 2025 saw a historic result as Nepal stunned two-time world champions West Indies by 19 runs to claim their first-ever T20I win against a Full ICC Member. The victory came in the opening match of their bilateral series, marking Nepal’s biggest achievement on the international stage to date.

Sent in to bat, Nepal posted a competitive 148 for 8. The innings had a shaky start as Akeal Hosein and Jason Holder struck early, reducing Nepal to 12 for 2 in the fourth over. However, skipper Rohit Paudel (38) and Kushal Malla (30) stabilized the innings with a 58-run partnership, before debutant Navin Bidaisee removed both in quick succession. Malla provided an early boost with two sixes, while Dipendra Singh Airee (24) and Gulsan Jha contributed crucial runs to keep Nepal in contention. Despite Jason Holder taking three wickets in the 19th over, inconsistent catching from West Indies allowed Nepal to finish with a defendable total.

Chasing 149, West Indies stumbled immediately as Kyle Mayers was run out by a direct hit from Bhurtel. Debutant Ackeem Auguste (15) provided brief resistance with two sixes, but Nepal’s spinners, led by Lalit Rajbanshi and Paudel, controlled the middle overs effectively. Dipendra Singh Airee then executed a brilliant run-out of Keacy Carty, while Bhurtel dismissed Jason Holder for 5, further denting the Caribbean side’s hopes. Hosein and Fabian Allen managed a few late blows, but Karan KC struck in the 19th over to seal Nepal’s historic triumph.

This victory not only underscores Nepal’s growing stature in international cricket but also sets the tone for an exciting bilateral series against a full member team.
