Dinesh Karthik is all set for his maiden stint in the International League T20 (ILT20) as the former India wicketkeeper-batter has officially joined Sharjah Warriorz for the upcoming fourth season.
Karthik comes in as a replacement for Sri Lankan cricketer Kusal Mendis, strengthening the squad led by head coach and former South African star JP Duminy.
Sharing his excitement, Karthik said,
“I am very excited to be joining the Sharjah Warriorz team for the DP World ILT20 tournament. They are a young team aiming to achieve something special, and I am happy to be part of this journey. Playing at the iconic Sharjah Stadium is a dream come true.”
Expanding His T20 Journey
The veteran Chennai cricketer continues to broaden his T20 portfolio. Earlier this year, he featured for Paarl Royals in SA20, scoring 97 runs in six innings.
Karthik is also serving as the batting coach of IPL 2025 champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), where he worked closely with explosive hitter Tim David—who will now also be his teammate at Sharjah Warriorz.

Head coach JP Duminy welcomed the addition, stating:
“Dinesh Karthik is one of the most experienced players and a highly innovative mind in T20 cricket. His explosive batting and immense knowledge will be a huge boost for our young players this season.”

Over a stellar two-decade career, Karthik has played 412 T20 matches, amassing 7,437 runs with 35 fifties at a strike rate of 136.66. For India, he featured in 60 T20Is, scoring 686 runs at a healthy strike rate of 142.61.
With his experience and attacking flair, Karthik’s inclusion is expected to give Sharjah Warriorz the edge they need in the highly competitive ILT20 2025 season.
