Ravindra Jadeja Ahmedabad Test century has once again cemented his reputation as India’s finest all-rounder. The vice-captain produced a masterclass on Day 2 of the opening Test against West Indies in Ahmedabad, smashing his sixth Test hundred and proving why he is considered the heartbeat of India’s red-ball setup.

Jadeja reached his century in 168 balls, an innings studded with six fours and five towering sixes. He remained unbeaten on 104 at stumps, steering India to a commanding 448/5 after a huge 206-run partnership with wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel. Jurel, playing with maturity beyond his years, registered his maiden Test ton with a well-compiled 125, further tightening India’s grip on the match after bowling out West Indies for just 162.

Aakash Chopra hails Jadeja as World’s No.1 all-rounder

Former India opener Aakash Chopra was quick to shower praise on Jadeja’s brilliance. Taking to social media, he wrote, “Jadeja is the undisputed World’s Number 1 Test All-Rounder. The one aspect that’s not celebrated enough is his fitness. He hasn’t lost any pace or sharpness on the field, whether it’s running between the wickets or his agility. He’s rarely injured too. Incredible player.”

The post struck a chord with fans, many echoing Chopra’s view that Jadeja’s fitness, consistency, and match-winning contributions with both bat and ball often don’t get the appreciation they deserve.

Jadeja joins elite Test all-rounders’ club

The Ahmedabad ton also etched Jadeja’s name among cricketing greats. He became only the sixth player in Test history to score six or more centuries while also claiming over 300 wickets. This elite list includes legends like Kapil Dev, R Ashwin, Ian Botham, Imran Khan, and Daniel Vettori.

With Jadeja still at the crease alongside Washington Sundar (9*), India are well placed to build an unassailable lead and put West Indies under immense pressure heading into the next phase of the match.

For Ravindra Jadeja, this century is more than just runs—it’s another statement of why he continues to be India’s most reliable all-rounder on the biggest stage.
