IND vs PAK Women’s World Cup Highlights: India Crush Pakistan by 88 Runs, Extend Record to 12-0

India continued their dominance over arch-rivals Pakistan in women’s ODI cricket, sealing a thumping 88-run victory in the ICC Women’s World Cup clash in Colombo on Sunday. With this win, India have now stretched their head-to-head record against Pakistan in ODIs to an incredible 12-0.

On a slow, tricky surface, India’s innings revolved around Harleen Deol’s composed 46 off 65 balls and Richa Ghosh’s explosive 20-ball 35* at the death, which powered the side to 247 all out. Despite a few stumbles in the middle overs, late contributions from Deepti Sharma (25) and Sneh Rana (20) gave India the edge heading into the bowling innings.

Harleen Deol anchors, Richa Ghosh finishes strong

India’s batting started cautiously after the early dismissal of Smriti Mandhana (23). Pratika Rawal (31) provided quick runs, while Harleen Deol took control of the innings, stitching valuable stands with Harmanpreet Kaur (19) and Jemimah Rodrigues (32). Deol’s solid presence ensured India didn’t lose momentum, setting the stage for Richa Ghosh’s late fireworks that lifted the total past 240.

Kranti Gaud leads bowling carnage

Chasing 248, Pakistan’s innings never found stability. Deepti Sharma’s sharp fielding saw Muneeba Ali (2) run out early, before Kranti Gaud (3/20) tore into the top order with a fiery spell. Aliya Riaz (2) and Sadaf Shamas (6) fell cheaply, leaving Pakistan in deep trouble at 26/3.

The spin duo of Deepti Sharma (3/45) and Shree Charani (2/38) applied further pressure, exploiting the turning track and ensuring Pakistan could not build meaningful partnerships.

Sidra Amin fights lone battle

While most of Pakistan’s batting faltered, opener Sidra Amin fought valiantly for her 81 off 106 balls, supported briefly by Natalia Pervaiz (33). The pair added 69 runs for the fourth wicket, briefly raising hopes of a comeback. But once their stand was broken, Pakistan crumbled, folding for 159 in 43 overs.

Post-match reactions

India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur hailed the team’s all-round display:

“A very important win for us. The bowling unit was outstanding and Kranti was brilliant. Richa’s late runs were crucial. On this kind of pitch, we wanted to fight hard, and I’m really happy with the result.”

Player of the Match Kranti Gaud expressed her delight:

“It feels amazing to contribute in a World Cup match. People back in my village will be proud today.”

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana admitted her side fell short despite Amin’s effort, emphasizing the need for stronger partnerships in upcoming games.
