IND A vs AUS A: Opener Prabhsimran Singh’s blazing century and skipper Shreyas Iyer’s composed half-century powered India A to a thrilling two-wicket victory over Australia A in the third and final unofficial ODI on Sunday, clinching the series 2-1.
Chasing a daunting target of 317, India A seemed on course for a comfortable win before a dramatic batting collapse kept the contest alive till the closing stages. However, Vipraj Nigam (24*), along with Arshdeep Singh (7*), showed calm nerves to take the hosts home with four overs to spare.
Prabhsimran was the star of the chase, smashing a breathtaking 102 off just 68 balls, peppered with boundaries across the park. His aggressive opening stand of 83 with Abhishek Sharma (22) laid the perfect foundation. Even after quick wickets from Todd Murphy, the Punjab opener reached his hundred in just 66 balls, continuing to dominate the Australian attack.
Joining him at the crease, captain Shreyas Iyer (62 off 58) brought stability and class. His 96-run partnership with Prabhsimran not only steadied the innings but also reaffirmed his leadership credentials ahead of the upcoming senior ODI series, where he takes over as vice-captain under Shubman Gill.

After Prabhsimran’s dismissal to Tanveer Sangha, Riyan Parag (58 off 53) kept the scoreboard moving with audacious strokeplay. But just when India A looked in control at 262 for three, Murphy (4/42) and Sangha (4/72) sparked a collapse, reducing the hosts to 301 for eight. Murphy nearly had a hat-trick, dismissing Ayush Badoni and Harshit Rana in consecutive deliveries, but Arshdeep denied him the feat with a composed block.
Earlier in the day, India A’s bowlers gave their side a dream start. Arshdeep Singh (3/38) and Harshit Rana (3/61) rattled Australia A’s top order, reducing them to 24 for three within six overs. A spirited recovery followed through Cooper Connolly (64) and Lachlan Shaw (32), but Ayush Badoni (2/31) broke their stand.
The visitors’ real revival came from captain Jack Edwards (89 off 75) and Liam Scott (73 off 64), whose 152-run stand for the seventh wicket propelled Australia A to a competitive total of 316 in 49.1 overs.
In the end, despite the hiccups, India A’s batting depth and composure under pressure ensured a series-clinching win—a result that highlights the team’s strong bench strength and the emergence of young match-winners.
