The left-handed opener had a phenomenal 2025, both in international cricket and in the IPL. In the 2025 Asia Cup, Sharma was the standout performer, finishing as the tournament’s Player of the Series and the leading run-scorer. Across seven matches, he smashed 314 runs at a staggering strike rate of 200, with 32 fours and 19 sixes. He also registered three half-centuries, with a top score of 75, and dominated the charts for most sixes and boundaries.
His form carried into the IPL as well, where he produced one of the most memorable knocks of the season—an explosive 141 off just 55 balls against PBKS, peppered with 14 fours and 10 sixes. It was during this innings that his unique chit celebration went viral.

Abhishek Sharma reveals why he took out the chit
Speaking recently on the YouTube show Breakfast with Champions, Sharma shared the story behind the act. He credited senior batter Shikhar Dhawan for inspiring him to start journaling and manifesting success.
“Dhawan told me manifestation is important. He even called me to his home and made me start writing in a diary. He asked me to visualize not just that I will achieve it, but that I already have. That I am the best player for India and have won many matches. This became part of my daily routine,” Sharma said.
He added, “Before every game, I do journaling. But for that particular match, I thought of writing on a chit instead. I wrote, ‘This one is for Orange Army,’ and kept it in my pocket. When I reached my fifty, I forgot about it. But when I crossed my hundred, I remembered and pulled it out during the celebration.”
India, meanwhile, lifted the 2025 Asia Cup title, defeating arch-rivals Pakistan in the final, though the post-match celebrations were marred by trophy controversy.
For Abhishek Sharma, however, 2025 has already shaped up as a breakthrough year that may well define the next phase of his career.
