Ajit Agarkar Urged to Fast-Track Vaibhav Suryavanshi into Senior Team: In a bold statement that has set the cricketing circles buzzing, Zubin Bharucha, the Rajasthan Royals’ Director of High Performance, has called on chief selector Ajit Agarkar to “blood Vaibhav Suryavanshi immediately” into the Indian senior team. Drawing parallels with the early rise of Sachin Tendulkar, Bharucha said that Suryavanshi’s extraordinary talent demands fast-tracking into top-level cricket.

The 14-year-old batting sensation from Bihar has already become a household name after his explosive performances in domestic and franchise cricket. Bharucha, speaking to the Times of India, compared his rise to that of Tendulkar, who made his Test debut against Pakistan at just 16 years old in 1989.

“He should be blooded into the senior team immediately, like Sachin was all those years ago,” Bharucha insisted. “They have to bring this guy in, boss, because he is in another zone entirely. Send him on an India A tour right now — he’s ready.”

A Record-Breaking Prodigy

Suryavanshi’s meteoric rise began when he made his first-class debut at just 12 years old, stunning everyone with his poise and shot-making. His breakthrough moment came during the IPL 2025 season, where he smashed the fastest-ever century by an Indian in the tournament’s history, reaching the milestone in just 35 balls against Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans.

Earlier this year, he followed it up with another record-breaking feat — the fastest century in youth ODIs against England at Worcester. His consistency and aggression have drawn comparisons with cricket’s greatest prodigies, and experts believe India may have unearthed a once-in-a-generation talent.

‘He Smoked Jofra Archer in the Nets’

Recalling an unforgettable training session, Bharucha revealed how England pacer Jofra Archer was left stunned while bowling to the young Indian during the IPL 2025 season.

“He smoked Jofra Archer in the nets,” Bharucha said. “Jofra never bowls warm-up balls. He comes in full throttle. We’ve seen him rattle even Steve Smith in the nets — Smith once refused to face him after a brutal spell. But when he bowled to Vaibhav, this boy hit one shot off the back foot that flew out of the stadium. Everyone — even Jofra — was stunned.”

The Next Big Thing in Indian Cricket?

Currently playing for India U-19, Suryavanshi has already toured England and Australia and is being closely monitored by selectors. Many within the cricket fraternity believe that his transition to senior-level cricket is inevitable — and perhaps imminent.

With the selectors’ meeting for upcoming India A tours approaching, Bharucha’s words are likely to add pressure on Ajit Agarkar and his panel to consider fast-tracking the teenage sensation.

If Suryavanshi’s rapid rise continues, Indian cricket might once again witness the making of a modern-day Sachin Tendulkar story — a young boy breaking barriers, rewriting records, and capturing the imagination of millions.
