Needing just 58 runs on the final day, India chased down the target with ease as KL Rahul continued his outstanding form, scoring another half-century. The 33-year-old has now registered three centuries and three fifties this year, strengthening India’s top order and cementing his position as one of the most consistent performers in the ongoing WTC cycle.

With this victory, India now boast four wins in seven Tests, holding a win percentage of 61.90%. Teams generally need around 70% to secure a berth in the WTC Final, keeping India firmly in contention.

Despite the series loss, the West Indies showed glimpses of their fighting spirit. Their batters displayed improved resilience, and skipper Roston Chase praised his bowlers’ efforts while admitting the batting unit still needed refinement. “Our bowling looks strong, but better shot selection is what we need to work on. Playing more matches against top teams will help us get there,” he said.

India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir echoed the sentiment, appreciating the Windies’ grit.

“I have always believed that world cricket needs West Indian cricket,” Gambhir said. “It was heartening to see them fight. They’re an inexperienced side, but their second-innings resistance will give them a lot of confidence moving forward.”

Gambhir also expressed his views on the pitch conditions in Delhi, urging for better Test match wickets in India.

“Yes, the game went to Day 5, but we need wickets with more carry. It’s important for both spinners and fast bowlers to be in the game. Keeping Test cricket alive starts with providing quality playing surfaces,” he emphasized.

With another series win at home, India continue their dominance in Test cricket. For the West Indies, though the result didn’t go their way, their spirited fightback offered a glimmer of hope — perhaps the beginning of a new chapter in their red-ball revival.
