Jasprit Bumrah Calls India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 Final “Interesting”
India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has described facing Pakistan for the third time in the Asia Cup 2025 as “interesting,” reflecting the unusual nature of a multinational tournament where teams meet multiple times.
Speaking ahead of the final, Bumrah said, “It has been exciting. Not very often in a tournament you play one opposition three times, so interesting is the word for me.”
India has been dominant so far, winning both previous encounters against Pakistan and entering the final undefeated, while Pakistan has suffered two losses — both at the hands of the Men in Blue.
Bumrah also discussed his role in the Powerplay, revealing that the team management has asked him to bowl early in the innings — a strategy reminiscent of his initial days in the Indian team back in 2016. “It is a different role. The team has wanted to use me up front. Something very new for me as well. Remember doing it in 2016 when I first came into the side. Trying to contribute to the best of my ability,” he explained.
The pacer, who was rested for two matches earlier in the tournament, also spoke about the confidence that players draw from the Indian Premier League (IPL). “In this format, you do not look at reputation. IPL has helped a lot. Youngsters in our team are confident and they know they are very good,” he added.
While India will carry confidence from their previous wins over Pakistan, Bumrah emphasized that the final will be a fresh start for both sides. “Any game, you start from zero. You focus on your team, your strengths, your combinations. Looking at the other team does not work well,” he noted.
With both teams performing strongly throughout the tournament, the Asia Cup 2025 final promises to be an exhilarating clash between the region’s cricketing giants.
