Nepal vs West Indies T20I Series 2025 – The Nepal cricket team etched their name in history books with a stunning 90-run victory over West Indies in the second T20I at the Sharjah Cricket Ground on September 29. With this emphatic win, Nepal took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, becoming the first-ever associate nation to win a bilateral series against the West Indies in any format.

Led by skipper Rohit Paudel, Nepal not only secured a historic series triumph but also shattered multiple records. The 90-run win is now the largest victory margin by a non-Test playing nation, surpassing Afghanistan’s 81-run win over Zimbabwe in 2016. Among current associate teams, Namibia previously held the record with a 55-run win against Sri Lanka at the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Nepal posted a competitive 173 runs despite early setbacks. Asaif Sheikh and Sundeep Jora steadied the innings with well-crafted half-centuries, ensuring their team had a strong platform.

In reply, the West Indies batting line-up collapsed under pressure, folding for just 83 runs. Mohammad Aadil Alam starred with the ball, taking four wickets, while Kushal Bhurtel added three crucial scalps to complete a famous victory.

This win also marked Nepal’s first-ever bilateral series victory against a full-member side, a monumental achievement for an associate nation that has steadily risen in world cricket.

The triumph comes shortly after Nepal’s heartbreak in failing to qualify for the Asia Cup 2025, despite impressive performances on the global stage. They had also pushed South Africa to the brink in the 2024 T20 World Cup, losing a last-over thriller.

Looking ahead, Nepal will now turn their focus to the Asian-EAP T20 World Cup 2026 qualifiers, scheduled in Oman from October 8–17.

For the West Indies, the loss adds to their ongoing struggles in international cricket. The Caribbean side, who recently suffered a 5-0 T20I defeat against Australia and were bowled out for just 26 in a Test against the same opposition, now face India in a two-match Test series starting in just three days.

The series began with Nepal’s 19-run win in the first T20I on September 27, setting the tone for what became one of the greatest milestones in their cricketing history.
