Speaking after the match, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha admitted the loss was tough to digest. “It is a tough one to swallow. We couldn’t finish nicely with the bat. Bowling we were outstanding but if we could have finished well, it would have been a different story,” he said. While praising his team’s bowlers, he acknowledged that Pakistan’s batting remains a major concern.

The frustration was clear even before his comments. While receiving the runners-up cheque, Agha threw it away, symbolizing the disappointment of yet another defeat at the hands of India.

On the field, the final was a rollercoaster. Pakistan got off to a strong start after being put into bat, with Fakhar Zaman and Sahibzada Farhan laying a solid platform. Farhan scored a half-century and Zaman looked dangerous, but India stormed back into the game through Kuldeep Yadav’s brilliant spell of 4/30. Pakistan collapsed spectacularly, losing nine wickets for 33 runs and folding for just 146.

India’s chase was far from smooth. Pakistan’s Faheem Ashraf struck early, dismissing Abhishek Sharma, before Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill followed cheaply, leaving India reeling at 20/3. Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson steadied the innings before Abrar Ahmed removed Samson to spark further drama.

Shivam Dube’s quickfire 33 kept India in the hunt, but it was Tilak Varma’s unbeaten 69 that guided the team to victory. With Rinku Singh hitting the winning runs, India sealed their record-extending ninth Asia Cup title, despite all the tension and chaos off the field.

The dramatic presentation ceremony ensured the night will be remembered not just for India’s win but also for Pakistan’s public show of frustration.
