Women’s World Cup 2025: India’s Women in Blue are all set to chase history as the Women’s World Cup 2025 kicks off at home. Unlike the Men in Blue, who fell short in the 2023 final against Australia in Ahmedabad, Harmanpreet Kaur’s side has a golden opportunity to lift the trophy on Indian soil.

The team comes into the tournament in fine form, having recently ended a losing streak against the defending champions Australia. Smriti Mandhana, leading the batting charge, has been in sensational touch, scoring back-to-back hundreds and a fifty in the ODI series against Australia. If she continues this run at the World Cup, India can expect imposing totals.

Mandhana forms a formidable opening duo with newcomer Pratika Rawal, whose consistency has strengthened the top order. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, alongside Jemimah Rodrigues, Harleen Deol, and wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh, adds firepower to the middle order. Deepti Sharma’s contributions with both bat and ball further bolster India’s chances, while all-rounder Amanjot Kaur promises flexibility.

India’s bowling attack is equally balanced. Renuka Singh, back from injury, leads the seamers with support from the young Kranti Goud, while spin options include Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav, Sneh Rana, and N. Shree Charani. This depth in attack gives India multiple ways to challenge opponents, especially on home pitches.
