Yash Thakur vs Yash Dhull Fight Heats Up Irani Cup 2025 Final as Umpires Step In to Diffuse Tension

The heated moment unfolded on the final day when Vidarbha pacer Yash Thakur dismissed Yash Dhull, who was leading a strong resistance for the Rest of India team. On the very first ball of the 63rd over, Thakur delivered a short-pitched ball that Dhull tried to upper-cut. Unfortunately for the batter, he mistimed it, handing an easy catch to Atharva Taide.

Thakur celebrated the crucial wicket with intense aggression, understandable given the match situation — Dhull was batting on 92 off 117 balls and had nearly shifted the game’s momentum. However, Dhull didn’t take kindly to the celebration. He turned back, storming towards Thakur, and for a tense few seconds, the two looked ready to exchange blows.

Before things escalated, the umpires and players from both sides intervened, pulling the two apart. Thakur was later seen speaking to the umpires, possibly expressing his frustration over Dhull’s reaction.

Former cricketer and commentator Vivek Razdan criticized the altercation, saying, “There was a tussle in the middle, but players must remember to maintain their limits. Sportsmanship should always come first.”

Vidarbha Clinch Irani Cup 2025 Title

Led by Akshay Wadkar, Vidarbha went on to lift the Irani Cup 2025, defeating Rest of India by 93 runs. A crucial 104-run partnership between Yash Dhull and Manav Suthar had revived Rest of India’s hopes, but once Dhull fell to Thakur, the chase quickly unraveled. The final three wickets tumbled for just 30 runs, sealing the contest in Vidarbha’s favor.

This triumph marked Vidarbha’s third Irani Cup title, following their previous wins in the 2017–18 and 2018–19 seasons. Thakur’s fiery spell not only shifted the match’s momentum but also added a dose of drama to an otherwise classic domestic final.
